Biography

Ercüment YILMAZ received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Computer Engineering Department at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) in June’18. In January’02, he joined Department of Informatics at KTU as academic staff member. Recently, as an Assistant Professor in the Software Development Department at KTU, he currently teaches lectures on Software Development.

He was a post-doctoral fellow at LISITE (Laboratoire D'Informatique, Signal, Image, Telecommunication et Electronique) de L'ISEP, ISEP, Paris/FRANCE between dates September 2019 - September 2020.

During his graduate studies, he developed algorithms for segmentation and classification of dental apical lesions on 3D images obtained via cone beam computed tomography devices.

His research focuses on bioinformatics, biomedical image processing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning for drug development and healthcare applications. Dr. Yılmaz specializes in computational drug discovery, developing AI-based algorithms for drug-target interactions, virtual screening, and molecular dynamics simulations. His work enhances drug discovery efficiency through in silico modeling and machine learning. He also researches medical image analysis, particularly segmentation and classification of lesions in CBCT, dermoscopy and other types of medical images.

Ercüment Yılmaz is also the founder of Yılmaz Bilişim, which is located in Trabzon Technology Development Zone. Yılmaz Bilişim is a R & D company that has been established with the aim of developing "Road Traffic Simulation Software" product. As CEO of Yılmaz Bilişim, he leads R&D projects in computational biology, AI-driven healthcare, and software development. His company applies AI and bioinformatics to drug discovery and personalized medicine. He has published extensively in bioinformatics, computational chemistry, and biomedical engineering. Dr. Yılmaz actively collaborates between academia and industry, advancing research in AI-driven pharmaceutical sciences and software engineering.
