Özet

In the study, some physical and mechanical properties of polymer lightweight concrete were investigated. Pumice aggregate was used as lightweight aggregate in the production of lightweight concretes. Fly ash was used in the production of polymer lightweight concretes. The results were compared with those of without fly ash. The cement content and the water to cement ratio were kept constant as 400 kg/m(3) and 0.35 respectively for all mixtures. Styrene-butadiene rubber latex (SBR) at ratios of 0%, 5% and 10% by weight of cement was adopted for each group of mixes. The flexural strength, compressive strength, abrasion resistance, water absorption and sorptivity of the concretes were determined. Based on the findings obtained, it may be concluded that SBR latex inclusion do not contribute to the flexural and compressive strength of concrete. However, it improved significantly the wear resistance, water absorption and sorptivity characteristics of the lightweight concrete.
