Özet

Bayramlar, birlik ve beraberliğin pekiştirilmesi, acıların ve mutlulukların paylaĢılması
bakımından milletlerin hayatlarında önemli bir yer tutar. Toplumların inançlarına göre dini
bayramları olduğu gibi, milli bayramları da vardır. Diğer milletlerde olduğu gibi Türkler de millî
hayatlarında önemli yer tutan bazı günlere bir özellik ve anlam yüklemiĢlerdir. Bu günleri Milli
Bayram olarak kutlamıĢlardır. Bu çalıĢmanın konusu ise 23 Temmuz 1908 tarihinde ilan edilen II.
MeĢrutiyet kutlamalarıdır.
Bu çalıĢmada Hürriyet Bayramının 1924’ten 1935’e kadar Ġstanbul ve Anadolu basınında
nasıl ortaya konulduğu analiz edilecektir. Bunun yanı sıra dönemin aydınlarının Hürriyet Bayramı
hakkında gazetelerdeki makaleleri de incelenecektir. Ardından bu bayramın gözler önüne serilmesi
için nasıl sembolize edildiği ve hangi tür sembollerin seçildiği analiz edilecektir. Son olarak
çalıĢma son sözlerle nihayetlendirilecektir.

Holidays have an important place in the lives of nations for they reinforce the common
identify among a certain people through reminding them the shared achievements and the
challenges that their ancestors have experienced in the past. Holidays can vary in terms of content
such as religious, national or even regional depending on the traditions of a given society. Turkish
nation, like other nations, have attributed special meanings and places to certain days and moments
of the past. These occasions are celebrated as national holidays. The subject of this study is the
celebrations of the II. Constitutional was proclaimed in 23th July 1908.
In this article will be analysed in the coming pages how this Liberty holiday was presented
and perceived by the pres in Istanbul and Anatolia from 1924 until 1935. Besides It will be analysed
what certain intellectuals had to say about the day in their articles in these newspapers. Then, It will
be analysed how this holiday was symbolized by the press and what kind of symbols was chosen to
visualize it. As a conclusion, the paper will be ended with concluding remarks
.
