Özet

The study presents determination of surface water quality in Trabzon City. Thus, hydrochemical properties and water quality parameters were determined in samples from Akhisar, Foldere, Iskefiye, Kalanima, Sera, Besirli, Degirmendere, Ikisu, Yomra, Yanbolu, Karadere, Manahoz, Solakli and Baltaci Rivers. The temperature, electrical conductivity and pH values of water were measured insitu. The major ions analysis carried out with the Fotometer and the concentrations of elements were determined using ICP-OES. The surface waters in the studied area are classified as water with carbonate and sulphate and Ca+Mg is dominated from Na+K in these surface waters. pH and electrical conductivity values of the waters are between 6.9-9.9, and 28-450 mu S/cm respectively. Thus, total dissolved solid and oxygen values of the waters are between 21 and 319 mg/L, and 8.8-16.9 mg/L respectively The values of NO2- and NO3- are generally low. Thus, waters of Baltaci and Fol Streams represent maximum values with 0.1 mg/L NO2-. However, waters of Sera Stream represent maximum values with 4.7 mg/L of NO3-. The maximum value of NH4+ was measured in Yanbolu Stream as 15.5 mg/L, and the maximum value of PO43- was measured in Kalanima Stream with 5.1 mg/L. The maximum value of KOI with 150 mg/L was measured in waters of Kalanima Stream. According to the Water Pollution Control Regulation of the Turkish Republic, Criteria for Inland Surface Water Classification, all surface waters in the studied area are classified high quality water considering to the most of parameters. However, considering to the values of Cu, Pb, Mn, NO2-, NH4+, PO43-, CN- and KOI, the waters are classified as slightly polluted, polluted and highly polluted. It is concluded that the pollution parameters in the studied waters have been originated from municipal wastes and agricultural activities.
