The number of studies on meta-heuristic search algorithms, which did not reach 10 in the 1990s, has increased significantly in recent years. Only in 2018, the number of meta-heuristic search algorithms introduced into the literature is more than 50. This rapid increase in the number of these algorithms applied to thousands of problems brings with them some problems. At the beginning of these problems, there are situations where the search performance of the algorithms and their place in the literature cannot be determined accurately. Non-standard and arbitrary preferences adopted in the conduct of experimental studies of meta-heuristic search (MSA) algorithms often lead to failing or misleading information on the performance of these algorithms. In two different studies, which are not the same as the experimental study conditions, it is possible to present the test problems in a way that will show a more successful algorithm compared to each other, even if the test problems are the same. The most followed way for this is to make the comparison of the among the algorithm performance over the, average suitability values of the most successful solution candidates. Another way is to define a threshold value as the conformity value for the overall solution of the problem and to stop the search process when that threshold is reached. Furthermore, instead of calling the maximum number of runs for fitness function as the search process termination criterion, it is possible to define the number of iterations that refer directly to the life cycle of the MSA algorithm, thus creating unequal conditions between algorithms and preventing the real performance of the algorithms from occurring. Another non-standard and faulty condition often made in the comparisons between algorithms is to provide the maximum number of iterations, while not allowing the search performances of algorithms to emerge. It is frequently seen that applications that lead to misleading results such as comparing with similar and low performance algorithms instead of current and powerful algorithms in the literature are used. The aim of this study is to provide solution suggestions for objective and effective exploration of meta-heuristic algorithms and their performance in literature. For this purpose, a detailed investigation has been made on the cases that lead to misleading and misleading information and standards have been defined to eliminate these situations.
