Abstract

Borogypsum consists mainly of CaSO4.2H(2)O, approximately 11% B2O3 and 0.0433% Li. Production of lithium from natural minerals by leaching methods is covered briefly. The leaching kinetic parameters were the activation energies: 793661 71146, 65900, 64442 and 63 322 J mol(-1); the pre-exponential factors: 9.57 x 10(16), 1.44 x 10(15), 6.09 x 10(13), 4.80 x 10(13), 2.72 x 10(13) s(-1) and rate constant values: 4.69 x 10(5), 3.41 x 10(4), 2.09 x 10(4), 9.60 x 10(3), and 3.61 x 10(3) s(-1) for 20, 40, 60, 80, and 160 min stirring times, respectively.
