Abstract
Lean production aims to eliminate waste and limit flexibility through standardization. By reducing complexity, lean practices mitigate the need for large-scale combinatorial optimization, although such problems may still arise under uncertainty. Lean applications narrow the gap between the EV solution and the EEV solution, defined as the Value of Lean Applications (VLA). Standardization and flowsupporting tools, including interior and exterior Heijunka, should be applied first, after which optimization methods can further reduce this gap. In this context, WS and RP should be analyzed.
