A Framework for Assessment Sustainability in Residential Neighbourhoods
Abstract
Sustainable transformation of residential areas has become important due to old building stocks in cities and urban sprawl
to natural areas. So, there is a need for tools that guide this transformation for sustainability. There are tools to assess
sustainability in residential neighborhoods. These tools are criticized for not include all dimensions of sustainability.
Therefore, aim of the study is identify subjects and sub-subjects, which are considered when assessing sustainability in the
residential neighborhoods, and their relationship with dimensions of sustainability through literature research and content
analysis. As a result, the numbers of sub-subjects related to social, environmental, and regional dimensions is higher than
others. However, during the process of assessing, the relatively importance of the sub-subjects also should be determined
and considered. This study provides a framework, which is reflected to which sub-subjects are generally using when assessing
and which dimensions of sustainability are considering depending on the sub-subject.
