The kinetic model suggested in the present work was based on fractional weight loss for each pyrolysis step, and TGA and DTA techniques were used. It was found that as the weight loss increases from 10 to 70%, the pyrolysis activation energy for hazel nut shell increases from 77.6 to 123.37 kJ/mol. The pyrolysis reaction was found to be of first-order. The reaction rate constant was found to be 2.1 x 10(9) s-1. The kinetic equation was concluded as:
