Özet
Climate change is expected to alter forest ecosystems, species distributions, and forest management priorities, potentially affecting the adequacy of existing forest road networks. While forest management planning and road network planning have traditionally been addressed separately, their integration is becoming increasingly important for climate-adaptive forestry. This study proposes a GIS-based framework to evaluate the adequacy of forest road networks under future forest management scenarios shaped by climate change. Future habitat suitability of major tree species will be projected using species distribution models under different climate scenarios, and the resulting changes in forest management strategies will be incorporated into accessibility analyses. Existing forest road networks will then be assessed in terms of their ability to provide efficient access to future harvesting and management areas using spatial network and accessibility analyses. The proposed framework aims to identify areas where current road infrastructure may become insufficient or underutilized under changing climatic conditions, thereby supporting proactive planning and adaptation strategies. By integrating climate change projections, forest management scenarios, and road network analysis, the study provides a decision-support approach for improving the long-term resilience of forest transportation systems and enhancing sustainable forest management.
