Abstract

This study focuses on the Eastern Black Sea region as it has a different cultural richness with its unique architecture as well as its nature according to the sustainable tourism approach. Ensuring the continuity of cultural tourism can be possible through protection and sustenance not only of nature but also architecture. Sustainability as a tourism idea is a fact that preserves the physical environment in which tourism activity is made and the social structure of the people living there is economically efficient. In the scope of the study, alternative tourism activities in the Black Sea region, Memisaga Mansion which is in the Trabzon/ Surmene province with its historical surroundings and natural architecture is addressed. In this respect, the sustainable development created in the scope of the tourism at the region by the mansion which carries the characteristics of traditional (local) residence architecture of Eastern Black Sea Region and while being used as a tourism resource for a period, currently serves as a restaurant is going to be examined.
