SUMMARY
Natural environment is susceptible to contamination from day to day resulting from industrialization, and a rapid rate of increases in population and some enterprises. Especially, the risk of pollution are more intensively located in the industry, agricultural areas, residential areas and enterprises along stream valleys. In general, environmental pollution is classified as chemical pollution, soil pollution, water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and visual pollution. In this way, environmental pollutants that cause pollution create different levels and different pollutant loads of stream valleys. Therefore, stream valleys remain significantly under the pollution risk. In Turkey, based on the protection of water resources, Watershed Protection Action Plan is being prepared with Watershed Management Approach with the EU Water Framework Directive and also this is divided into sub-basins. This Watershed Protection Action Plan was aimed to be monitoried intervention in a positive and negative impacts within the basin. Due to be done these action plans, it is neccesarry to reveal the general condition of the basin and define all factors causing the environmental pollution of the basin and relationships between each other. Therefore, it will neccesary be integrated the pollutants and what level of these affects of valley in the geodatabase creating with a Geographic Information System. In this study, it will be examined how to make a database design in the direction of the Watershed Protection Action Plan using Geographic Information System. Selected as a pilot area in the province of Trabzon stream valley, Turkey, pollutants to be determined and the needed spatial datas will be brought together in this geodatabase system. With created geodatabase, affected zone of pollutants will be mapped with GIS spatial analysis capabilities and it will be determined risk areas under the risk of pollution.
