In this study, Al-based hybrid metal matrix nanocomposites reinforced with nanosized Graphite and B4C were produced using a powder metallurgy approach that included high-energy ball milling and vacuum hot pressing. The Al2024 alloy was reinforced with B4C nanoparticles in varying amounts between 0.25 and 1 wt%, along with a constant 0.5 wt% of graphite nanoparticles. The Al2024/Graphite/B4C hybrid nanocomposites were fabricated from powders that underwent 8 h of mechanical milling. The primary objective of our study is to investigate the effect of varying B4C nanoparticle content on the physical and mechanical properties, and wear resistance of these hybrid nanocomposites. With increasing B4C content, the relative density values gradually decreased. Additionally, as B4C content increased, the hardness and tensile strength values of the samples also increased. Moreover, wear tests conducted under a 5N load showed that the wear resistance of the samples greatly improved with increasing B4C content.
