Abstract

Redox polymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) with poly(ethylene glycol) using Mn(III) as catalyst was carried out to yield poly(ethylene glycol-block-acrylonitrile). The principal parameters (concentration of reactants, temperature) affecting the synthesis were examined. Successful blocking has been confirmed by infrared and H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as well as gel permeation chromatography.
