Özet

This paper proposes an integrated angle of arrival (AoA)-based localization method for underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) systems. The proposed method utilizes the same optical signals used for data transmission for localization purposes as well, without requiring any additional hardware. The transmitter location is estimated from the optical power ratios measured by multiple photodiodes (PDs) at the receiver. The ratioing of the optical powers eliminates the impact of channel parameters on localization, allowing the method to be directly applicable in various underwater environments without the need for parameter reconfiguration. Simulation results validate the proposed method, determine the appropriate number and arrangement of PDs, and demonstrate the localization performance.
