Switched reluctance motors gain importance especially in automotive applications because of its robust and fault tolerant feature as well as its suitable torque-speed characteristics for automotive load profile. The main disadvantage of this motor is the torque ripple and acoustic noise. In this paper, three phases 24/22 double U core switched reluctance motor and its controller is modelled and simulated. PI speed controller, PI torque controller and direct instantaneous torque controller (DITC) are implemented as motor controller. The simulation results are given for each controller types. The purpose of the research is to figure out the effect of torque ripple minimization to the motor copper losses.
