Özet
Indoor laser-based optical wireless communication systems offer high data rates through narrow-beam transmission, but they also introduce significant design challenges due to the requirements of line-of-sight (LoS) continuity, beam steering precision, and accurate focusing. In this study, an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted communication system is considered for redirecting the laser beam in obstructed indoor environments. The proposed outage probability model jointly takes into account the LoS condition between the transmitter and the IRS, as well as the beam spread ratio (BSR), which characterizes the angular spread of the reflected beam. Based on this model, IRS placement optimization is performed using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) in order to minimize communication outages within the target service area. Numerical results show that, in scenarios with physical obstacles, the optimized IRS placement significantly reduces the outage probability compared to standard placement.
