Abstract

Floods are one of the biggest natural disasters after earthquakes in terms of their effects. They are frequently seen and threaten settlements. Floods usually occur as a result of inadequate precautions and irregular urbanization. In this context, even if it is not possible to prevent floods completely, it may be possible to reduce the impact of floods and minimize the loss of life and property by taking precautions in advance as a result of the analyzes made. The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydrological software together is among the most important methods in modeling floods. Within the scope of this study, a study region located in the Trabzon province of the Eastern Black Sea Region, which is one of the regions with the highest rainfall in Turkey, was determined and it was aimed to determine the flood areas using both GIS and the study data of this region. It is recommended to plan the identified areas as recreation areas.
