Abstract

While world energy politics is about to undergo a radical change to provide a low-carbon economy, nuclear energy is considered an attractive alternative from the viewpoints of global warming and climate change. Nuclear technology is a clean technology since it requires no oxygen consumption and produces low carbon dioxide emission. The present paper aims at evaluating both the present status of nuclear power in general and its implications for Turkish energy market. A comparison made between the hydropower energy and nuclear energy. Also necessity of nuclear energy in Turkey and positions of nuclear power plants was discussed for coming years.
