Abstract

Beekeeping is a significant agricultural practice with worldwide implications, playing a key role in food production and preserving biodiversity. The apiculture industry is critical to

economic growth, offering job opportunities and promoting sustainable farming (Hinton el al., 2021). In addition to their importance in the production of honey and its products, bees

also contribute to agricultural productivity by playing an important role in the pollination of flowers (Can & Köksal, 2024). According to FAO 2022 statistics, Turkey has an important

place as it ranks third in bee population, second in honey production and fourth place in beeswax production (FAO, 2024). The quality of honey produced varies depending on both

the geographical characteristics where the bees feed and the biotic factors affecting the bee population. These biotic factors can be fungi (especially Nosema genus), bacteria

(Paenibacillus larvae) and viruses.
