Today, a significant proportion of transportation is carried out by sea. Maritime transportation, It is preferred due to its important advantages such as environmental, economic and carrying capacity. The density of maritime traffic leads to maritime accidents. Maritime accidents have negative effects on the economy, human life and the marine environment. Especially the cargo and fuel carried by ships spilling into the marine environment negatively affects marine resources and ecology. In addition, ships cause pollution not only with maritime accidents but also with the activities they carry out. Green maritime transportation within the scope of the Blue economy aims to protect and sustain marine resources and ecosystems. It is inevitable that a pollution incident caused by maritime accidents or ship activities in the Black Sea will have serious effects on the ecosystem and coastal areas of the Black Sea. Considering that the Black Sea is an area where intensive fishing activities take place, it is seen that its impact on human life and the economy is quite significant. In this context, the effects of maritime transportation activities on the Black Sea were examined, and the recommendations and sanctions published by the International Maritime Organization on pollution were mentioned.
