Özet
In this article, the educational system of the Dominican Order is examined as a structural phenomenon that shaped and transformed the intellectual landscape of Europe in the late Middle Ages. The discussion focuses on the fundamental dynamics that led the Order-founded by Saint Dominic-to shift away from its original model of itinerant preachers based on poverty and to emerge as an influential institutional force in the field of education. In the study, the transformation of the educational approach shaped around the Order's mission of preaching into institutions of studium generale character from monastic schools over time is examined. Dominican pedagogy, shaped particularly through the contributions of thinkers such as Albertus Magnus and Thomas Aquinas, is evaluated together with its philosophical and theological foundations. The Order's curriculum, teaching methods, student-instructor relationships, and institutional regulations are examined in detail. This study, prepared by drawing upon both original sources of the period and modern literature, aims to reveal the contributions of the Dominican educational system to the formation and institutionalization of medieval university structures, as well as to the development of scholastic thought.
