With the completion of the Yusufeli Dam
and Hydroelectric Power Plant Project,
which was started in 2012 on Çoruh River, the town center, some parts of
the villages, the agricultural lands and
historical buildings will be submerged by
the flood. The writers analyze Yusufeli,
where the urban and rural geography has
undergone a profound change, with the
aims of registering the spatial character of
the town center before it becomes flooded
in the next few years.
2012’de Çoruh Nehri üzerinde inşaatına başlanan Yusufeli Barajı ve Hidroelektrik Santrali projesinin tamamlanmasının ardından ilçe merkezinin tamamı ile köylerin, tarım alanlarının ve tarihî eserlerin bir bölümü sular altında kalıyor olacak. Kentsel ve kırsal coğrafyanın derin bir değişime uğradığı Yusufeli’ni inceleyen yazarlar, önümüzdeki birkaç yıl içinde yeni yerine taşınacak olan ilçe merkezinin mekânsal karakterini kayıt altına almayı amaçlıyor.
