Viktor Pelevin’in Omon Ra adlı romanına heterotopolojik bir yaklaşım

Özet

Viktor Pelevin’in 1992 yılında yayımlanan ilk romanı Omon Ra’nın Michel Foucault’nun heterotopya kuramı üzerinden ele alınması bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Esere böylesine bir yönden bakmakla eserde heterotopyalara rastlanıp rastlanılmayacağını saptamak amaçlanmaktadır. Böylelikle eserin farklı bir bakış açısından okunmasına katkı sağlamak da çalışmanın amaçları arasında yer alır. Bu türden bir çalışmayı yürütmek eseri farklı bir perspektiften yorumlamayı mümkün kılmasının yanı sıra Viktor Pelevin’in edebi yaratıcılığında sıklıkla rastlanılabilen kapalı mekânlarda oluşan kendine dönme, kendini sorgulama sonucunda meydana gelen direnç durumlarının belli ögeler üzerinden aktarıldığını görmeyi de mümkün kılmaktadır. Çalışmanın amaçları doğrultusunda Michel Foucault tarafından 1967’de kaleme alınıp içerisinde heterotopya ve heterotopolojinin tanımlandığı Başka Mekânlara Dair adlı metin çalışmanın rehberi olarak kabul edilip romanın bu kuram üzerinden incelenmesi çalışmanın yöntemi olarak belirlenmiştir. Heterotopya daha çok dış mekânı ilgilendiren bir kavram olsa da metin içerisinde geçişi sağlayan düşüncelerin iç mekânda geçtiği göz önünde bulundurularak iç mekân bileşenlerinin çözümlenmesi yöntemine de başvurulmaktadır. Yürütülen çalışmada romanın belli kısımlarında tekrar eden gastronomik ögelerin mekânsal geçişi tetiklediği, mekânsal geçişin gerçekleştiği yerlerin de askeri okullar olduğu görülmüş, askeri okulların metin içerisinde Sovyet ideolojisine hizmet etme, belirli ritüellere sahip olma gibi göz önünde olan heterotopolojik özelliklerinden ziyade esasen geçişin yaşandığı heterotopyalar olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

A HETEROTOPOLOGICAL APPROACH TO VIKTOR PELEVIN’S OMON RA

Abstract
  An analysis of Viktor Pelevin’s first novel Omon Ra that has been published in 1992 from the perspective of heterotopia which is elaborated by Michel Foucault is the main material of this study. This study aims to determine if the traces of heterotopias can be found in Pelevin’s first novel. In doing so, the study also aims to determine if a new approach that would help to understand underlying context of the novel can be brought. This kind of analysis would let us not only interpret Omon Ra from a different point of view, but also find out how the individual shows resistance after questioning himself and returning to self in closed spaces that can often be seen in Viktor Pelevin’s novels. The resistance that the individual shows can be seen through certain components in the novel. In accordance with the purposes of the study Michel Foucault’s understanding of heterotopias and heterotopology that he first introduces in his conference paper Of Other Spaces in 1967 is chosen as the method for analysing how spaces in Omon Ra affects the individual. Although the concept of heterotopia mainly focuses on outer space, in Omon Ra it can be seen that the ideas which make it possible for the individual to cross thresholds come up in inner spaces and for the very reason an analysis of inner space components is being made. By making these kinds of analyses it has been seen that gastronomical components that repeat in certain chapters trigger spatial passage, and those spatial passages happen in military schools or pioneer camps that serve Soviet myths and ideologies. Besides the fact that these military schools serve Soviet ideology, they also have some kind of ritualism that made us realize that these spaces form heterotopias.
