Abstract

In this study, optimum values of maximum directivity antenna parameters in a pyramidal horn antenna are determined using the symbiotic organisms search (SOS) algorithm which is an effective metaheuristic optimization method. The design parameters, distance between waveguide and aperture in E-plane, distance between waveguide and aperture in H-plane, flare width and flare height of the pyramid horn antenna are optimally computed using SOS algorithm in MATLAB environment. An optimization function that minimizes the antenna's diameter and directivity is selected in order to adapt the algorithm to the antenna design. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the SOS algorithm can be an optimal method to design the antenna.
