This study aims to identify, categorize, evaluate, and prioritize the key factors influencing the pyrolysis process using a spherical fuzzy step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SF-SWARA). A total of twenty-seven factors are analyzed and organized into five main categories: “raw material properties”, “process conditions and kinetics”, “reactor design and configuration”, “catalysts and additives”, and “product collection and post-processing”. SF-SWARA is applied to determine the relative importance of each factor. Based on the analysis, the five most critical factors affecting pyrolysis performance are identified as “chemical composition” (6.12 %), “temperature control and heat profile” (5.52 %), “reactor type, geometry, and scalability” (4.64 %), “moisture content and pre-treatments” (4.63 %), and “heat transfer, insulation, and reactor thermal efficiency” (4.51 %). This study provides valuable insights to enhance pyrolysis performance, support informed decision-making, and guide future research and industrial applications.
