Developments in the semiconductor technology has reduced the size and cost of electronic components and thus enabled widespread adaption of wearable devices. Wireless wearable electronic devices are being used for patient monitoring without causing any discomfort to the user. But the problem of battery life is still a main concern for these applications. A huge portion of power consumption consists of wireless transmission of the sensor data. In this work, an ECG signal compression algorithm is proposed which consecutive samples are sent as 1 octet, when information doesn't fit into 8 bits, exceeding part of the information is sent as 2 octets denoted with special codes. Since proposed algorithm consists of very basic arithmetic operations, it's usable in even very basic microcontrollers.
