HOLZ ALS ROH-UND WERKSTOFF, vol.55, no.4, pp.268, 1997 (SCI-Expanded)
Nine trees were used in this study. Wood and bark samples were separated into sapwood and heartwood as well as into inner and outer bark. Therefore, four samples were obtained from each tree. Sampling, moisture content, lignin, a-cellulose, ash and solubilities in alcohol-benzene, and hot and cold water, 1% NaOH were determined according to TAPPI standard methods. Furthermore, the holocellulose content was determined according to Wise's chlorite method, whereas the cellulose content was determined by Kürschner-Hoffner's nitric acid method. Lignin determination in bark was carried out after 1% NaOH extraction. Hot water extract of bark was examined for its content of condensed tannins by determination of Stiasny number.
