Özet

Abrasive waterjet (AWJ) machining is used to cut and shape different materials ranging from soft to hard and ductile to brittle materials. It is a complex process, which is influenced by many parameters such as hydraulic, mixing, and abrasive parameters. Its cutting capability depends mainly on the choice of process parameters and the properties of materials being cut. This study presents an experimental investigation of effects of the process parameters of abrasive waterjet machining on the kerf characteristics of granite from the standpoint of kerf angle. The design philosophy of Taguchi is followed to conduct experiments. The effects of different process parameters are presented in terms of mean responses and major process factors affecting the kerf angle of the granite are determined through analysis of variance (ANOVA). © BHR Group 2010.
