Due to the gradual decrease in fish populations in the Black Sea, fishermen have been compelled to engage in fishing
in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Indian Ocean. Those with sufficient budgets have built larger vessels
with greater length, beam, and depth, adapted to the more challenging sea conditions compared to the Black Sea.
However, fishing vessel owners who do not have enough budget to build new ships have opted to increase the length,
beam, and depth of their existing fishing vessels to keep up with the new conditions and remain competitive in the
fishing industry. Due to the unique construction characteristics of Black Sea-type fishing vessels, there are specific
areas where the length, beam, and depth of the hull can be economically increased. This study provides examples of
lengthening, beam widening, length and beam widening, and the addition of a forecastle and bulbous bow in Black
Sea-type fishing vessels.
