Periodontal and Prosthetic Rehabilitation of Multiple Gingival Recessions: A Case Report

Multiple gingival recessions not only cause aesthetic problems in teeth but also lead to dentin sensitivity. In this case report, the periodontal plastic surgery and subsequent prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with multiple gingival recessions in the maxillary anterior region are presented. A 27-year-old systemically healthy female patient presented to our clinic with complaints of multiple gingival recessions and dentin sensitivity in the anterior region. Clinical examination revealed gingival recessions and an incompatible restoration on tooth number 11. After initial periodontal treatment, a combination of coronally advanced flap surgery and subepithelial connective tissue graft was planned to treat the gingival recessions on teeth 12, 11, 21,  22. In the same session as the surgical operation, resin-modified glass ionomer cement was applied to tooth number 11. Intraoral photographs were taken at baseline, during the operation, at the 2nd week, 2nd month, and 12th month follow-ups. Following periodontal plastic surgery, 100% root coverage was achieved on all surgically treated teeth, and dentin sensitivity was eliminated. Aesthetic improvement was achieved with a zirconia-supported restoration at the 4th month post-surgery. In conclusion, this case report demonstrates that an interdisciplinary treatment approach involving periodontology and prosthetic dentistry resulted in an ideal functional and aesthetic outcome.
