Quality and Quantity, 2025 (Scopus)
Scientists have consistently shown interest in research on the acceptance and adoption of information technologies. The year 2003 was a significant turning point in this field with the introduction of the unified theory of technology acceptance and use (UTAUT), bringing information technology acceptance research to a remarkable peak. UTAUT has received over 58,000 citations in total across multiple studies since its inception. Systematic studies on UTAUT have generally focused on bibliometric data such as authorship, institutional affiliations, journal sources, and countries. However, no comprehensive content analysis has been conducted regarding the reasons behind the articles referring to UTUAT. A rigorous scientific mapping study was conducted to understand UTAUT studies better. To achieve this, bibliometric data of 2,219 articles related to UTAUT were obtained from the Web of Science database in plain text format. Using this data, a comprehensive content analysis study was conducted with the SciMat program. Strategic diagrams, thematic networks, and evolutionary maps were used to distinguish overarching themes, relevant terminologies, and their temporal evolution. The findings were meticulously interpreted and explained for each theme and detailed information about UTAUT was provided.
