This article examines the role of agrotourism in advancing sustainable development goals in the Black Sea Region through a conceptual analytical framework. The study employs a qualitative research design based on a systematic review of the agrotourism, sustainable tourism, and rural development literature, complemented by secondary data analysis of recent agricultural and tourism statistics obtained from official national sources. The analysis focuses on the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental dimensions of agrotourism and their alignment with sustainable tourism principles and rural development policies. Using region-specific evidence, the study evaluates the potential of agrotourism to enhance rural employment, support women’s entrepreneurship, and reduce overtourism pressures in highland areas. The findings demonstrate that agrotourism constitutes a strategic instrument for regional development and offer policy-relevant insights through place-based application models, including tea garden tourism and honey tourism. The article concludes by recommending longitudinal mixed-methods research to assess the long-term socio-ecological impacts of agrotourism across diverse elevation and ethno-cultural contexts.
