Özet

As a result of the cutting and processing activities in natural stone quarries and factories, various types and sizes of waste are generated. The discovery of new industries focused on utilizing natural stone cutting by-products holds significant importance from environmental, and economic perspectives. Natural stone wastes exhibit the potential to be used as abrasive in abrasive waterjet machining solely through size reduction-classification processes. This research examines the potential viability of utilizing natural stone cutting wastes in this manner. The suitability of natural stone wastes as abrasives is evaluated based of particle size, particle shape, hardness, density, and cost. Additionally, the preparation processes for converting these wastes into abrasives, including crushing, grinding, and screening, are discussed. It can be stated that processed natural stone solid wastes with appropriate properties can be successfully utilized as abrasive material in abrasive waterjet machining.
