Abstract

The stochastic response of offshore structures under the earthquake ground motion is investigated in this paper. For this purpose, a jacket type of offshore structure is chosen. Stationary and ergodic assumptions are made for the stochastic process. The effect of the water is considered in the formulations. The horizontal component of 1999 Kocaeli earthquake recorded at Yarimca station is chosen as a ground motion. Results obtained from the stochastic analyses are compared with those of the deterministic analysis. It is concluded that the mean of maximum values of the displacements, axial and shear forces, and moments obtained from stochastic analysis are smaller than those of the deterministic.
