An engineering system is considered in which the load is applied at random times and involves a random volume of jobs. The volume of simultaneously run jobs is restricted. The system is subject to prophylactic supervision. Expressions are derived explicitly for the mathematical expectation and variance of the time to the first interval free from all jobs.
