Abstract

Capoeta ekmekciae, new species, from the Coruh River drainage, Turkey, is distinguished from the other species of Capoeta by its shorter head, deeper caudal peduncle, shorter caudal fin and more serrae along the posterior margin of the last simple dorsal ray. The grammatical gender of the name Capoeta is discussed and shown to be feminine.
