Özet

Green computing has become an increasingly significant research area due to the rising energy consumption and environmental impact associated with digital technologies. Although the number of publications has grown rapidly, the thematic fragmentation within the field makes it difficult to understand its overall structure and the evolution of research priorities over time. This highlights the need for a comprehensive and data-driven assessment of the green computing literature. The aim of this study is to map the thematic landscape of green computing and to analyze long-term research trends based on 11,119 journal articles published between 1960 and 2025. Using Scopus data and an embedding-based BERTopic methodology, semantically coherent topic clusters were identified. The findings emphasize two central insights. First, 36 meaningful topics were discovered, spanning areas such as energy-efficient virtualization, neuromorphic architectures, environmental modeling, and UAV-supported edge computation. Second, the trend analysis reveals a clear directional shift within the field. Traditional research areas focused on virtualization and hardware efficiency have declined, while distributed architectures, AI-driven systems, and environmentally aware solutions have emerged as dominant and rapidly growing themes. By providing an integrated overview of thematic structures and documenting major shifts in research priorities, this study offers a valuable foundation for future research and for guiding sustainable digital transformation strategies.
