Abstract

This study is aimed to determine the optimum insulation thickness for the exterior wall in buildings for Gümüşhane Province depending on different fuel types and insulation materials. XPS, EPS, rock wool, glass wool as an insulation material on the outer wall and natural gas, coal and fuel oil as fuel are considered in the study. IZODER TS825 calculation program and Life-Cycle Cost Analysis was used for specific heat loss, annual energy requirement calculations and economic analysis. Fuel costs, energy savings values, payback periods and optimum insulation thicknesses have been calculated depending on the various insulation materials and fuel types. According to the results of the study, the optimum insulation thickness for the exterior wall in buildings, annual energy saving and payback periods have respectively calculated as 0.03-0.09 m, 7.21-22.93 $/m2 . year and 0.29- 0.75.
