Chromosome numbers of some <i>Carex</i> species from Northeast Anatolia

Abstract

Chromosome numbers for seven taxa of Carex L. collected from NE Anatolia were determined. They were 2n = 42 for C. rostrata, 2n = 62 for C. sylvatica subsp. latifrons, 2n = 76-80 for C. flacca subsp. serratula, 2n 64-66 for C. pallescens var. pallescens, 2n = 46 for C. tomentosa, 2n 48 for C. caucasica, and 2n = 82 for C. oligantha. Taxonomic value of these results is discussed.
