Özet

This study aims to examine the use of the promenade concept as an educational tool in the designcreation process within the scope of the Environmental Design Project-I Studio for first-yearLandscape Architecture students. The methodology of the study is based on a studio and workshopprocess conducted within the framework of a design problem involving the design of water-relatedactivities. In this process, students' actions of perception, visualization, scenario creation, and designare supported through guided sketches, conceptual discussions, and phased design production. Thefindings reveal that addressing the promenade concept in the early semester strengthens students'skills in developing spatial perception, understanding continuity and movement relationships, reflecting on space-user experience, and producing creative designs. Furthermore, it was observedthat students were able to develop original scenarios in the process of transforming abstract conceptsinto concrete spatial constructs, and their interdisciplinary thinking tendencies increased. Inconclusion, it is evaluated that the studio process structured around the promenade conceptcontributes to the development of design thinking in first-year Landscape Architecture education;and offers an effective design education approach that allows for a holistic consideration ofperception, experience, and spatial construct.
