Abstract

In this study, an infinite orthotropic layer containing a partially closed crack is considered. The elastic layer is loaded by flat punches length of 2a with a transverse pair of compressive concentrated forces P. It is assumed that there are no tangential forces. The contact between the layer and the punches is frictionless. The problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations by using Fourier transform technique. The system of singular integral equations is solved by using Gauss–Jacobi integration formula. The effect of the material orthotropy on stress intensity factor and load factors at the right of crack edge is presented. Also, numerical results for the different crack length are presented in graphical form.
