Cultural heritage is the accumulation of knowledge that a society and its individual members process during their lifespan. For this reason, it is important to develop educational policies for conservation awareness and conservation culture concerning the promotion and protection of cultural heritage. It is clear that the implementation of conservation awareness, especially at younger ages, will contribute more effectively to conservation efforts. In this context, subjects related to culture and heritage are included within the social studies programme primary education curriculum of Turkey Ministry of Education. In addition, conservation awareness activities towards children are being carried out by various institutions and organizations. The aim of this study is to examine the social studies curriculum and educational activities of the institutions for the conservation of cultural heritage.
