Özet

This study aimed to comparatively examine matches played in the Swiss Super League, Challenge

League, and Promotion League during the 2013–2025 period in terms of match outcomes, goal-related

characteristics, first-half indicators, and pre-match betting odds. The study included 4,696 matches

manually compiled, coded, and standardized by the researcher on a match-by-match basis. Descriptive

statistics, Pearson’s chi-square test, and Cramer’s V were used, while Welch’s test and Games–Howell

post hoc comparisons were applied to compare betting odds across leagues. The results revealed a

significant, moderate association between the first-half result and the final match result (V=0.433).

Significant associations were also found between the final match result and Over/Under 2.5 goals

(V=0.307) and Both Teams to Score (V=0.230). No significant association was found between league

level and final match result, whereas differences with small effect sizes were observed for several goalrelated

and first-half indicators. Betting odds also differed significantly across league levels. Overall,

the three leagues showed largely similar final match outcome distributions but differed in certain goalrelated

indicators and betting odds.
