Abstract

In the past there has been a large increase in the number of people who prefer urban areas to continue their daily life. This has caused many problems in the immediate vicinity of the city and the city. Problems such as environmental pollution, unplanned growth, inadequate green spaces, unqualified and unqualified residential areas have begun to suffer difficulties in returning to natural and cultural values. Sustainable city approaches have emerged in the interest of removing these problems from urban natural-cultural values. One of these approaches is Cittaslow movement. A country's holistic approach to sustainability is very important. However it is directly proportional to how the pieces can be evaluated in terms of sustainability. The primary aim of this study is to create awareness about the values districts have and offer a functional, spatial and an ideal solution that eliminates the deficiencies of the current usage for sustainability by Cittaslow. Basically targeted; editing sustainable countries from part to whole. So in the study firstly Cittaslow scores of the districts were calculated and their deficiencies were determined by Cittaslow criteria. After that the recommendations have been defined to overcome the deficiencies that the district has. Simulations have been developed that are defined as solutions to problems. The suggestions and simulations for the deficiencies and problems are interrelated with the notion of city form and sustainability. Finally, the recommendations have been evaluated with the dwellers via questionnaire. Thus, the deficiencies in sustainable urban understanding will be eliminated and ecological approaches have been determined which get the forefront urban identity.
