Violence is a fact that can be encountered all over the world. The violence, which is not just one type, has many different types and different effects. The violence is an example of a crime against humanity that can affect individuals personally as well as society. The violence is a fact that can be encountered in the normal course of life. It cannot be completely eliminated. However, the need to fight it is as common a concern as the violence itself. Because what is worse than the existence of the violence is to accept it as normal. Different methods are needed in the fight against the violence. Public policies can be shown as one of the tools in the hands of public institutions about fight against the violence. The success of public policies can be achieved with the cooperation of social actors and state powers. While public policies are dealing with violence, it can use a method that takes into account the reasons that may cause it. One of these methods is public values. The violence causes the erosion of facts of public values. Public values closely related to values and policies that ensure public order, from ethics, morals, culture, justice, economy and education. In this study, it will be discussed that the public values as a public policy should be utilized in the fight against the violence. We will analyze some problems that may cause erosion of public value in line with the results of Overton's Window, Broken Window Theory and Şerif and Asch experiments.
