Abstract

The tanker based floating, production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs) have six degrees of freedom motion during operation in the sea. The loading conditions can be changed with using ballast tanks. This has an impact on the amplitude of motions. In this study, the loading effects on the movements are investigated. Polyester mooring lines are commonly used at deep-water locations for a FPSO. Four polyester mooring lines are used. Internal turret is chosen and modeled as a single point. The first- and second- order wave forces calculated from the hydrodynamics program ANSYS-AQWA for multiple bodies. For this, the vessel and line dynamics are solved simultaneously for the environmental and boundary conditions. Gulf of Mexico is chosen for the non-parallel wind-wave-current 100 year hurricane conditions for the analysis. For comparison, 50%, 80% and fully loaded conditions are chosen. The results are presented and discussed.
