MODEL PROPOSAL TO INDICATE THE IMPACT OF TOURISM ON DETERMINING QUALITY OF LIFE IN RURAL ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract

The globalisation process has caused a rapid urban change and transformation; in recent years, with the tourism activity in rural areas, they have experienced the change of traditional life culture and texture. In this process, it is necessary to make the right planning decisions at both the settlement and building scale. In particular, the mismanagement of tourism activities; Changes in the life styles of societies may lead to the risk of abandonment of use and functions in traditional buildings. Thus, it can bring about negative developments such as the fact that settlements are a consumption product of mass tourism. With the study, it is aimed to prevent the negative developments of mass tourism in rural areas and to increase the level of social, economic and spatial life quality of tourism activities. A model proposal was developed with the inventory, analysis and evaluation process by using the “Post Occupancy Evaluation” (POE) method. The model proposal has been handled in three main dimensions and three main frameworks. At the end of the study, steps towards improving the life quality of rural environments were determined. In addition, it is predicted that it will contribute to the literature with the proposed model and solution suggestions.
