Özet

Intuitive thinking in the field of art and design involves producing works using one’s instinct. In the educational process, intuitive thinking skills are significant for acquiring many features in relation to one’s other thinking skills. The aim of this study is to share with academics and professionals from different disciplines how a project process with many difficulties can be realized with appropriate planning. The project process described in this study was carried out within the scope of the ‘Model Making’ course with the participation of students from the Interior Design Associate Degree Program. Due to the earthquake that occurred in southeast Turkey and affected 11 provinces, higher education was conducted remotely and online. Therefore, the project process presented various difficulties for both the students and the lecturer. During the project process, the students represented the interiors in selected stories of American writer Edgar Allan Poe as three-dimensional models. They approached the design problem with intuitive thinking, reflecting the spaces described in the stories through their models. As a result, it was observed that the students were able to think about the space and events described in the story together and added their own symbolic interpretations while representing the space.
