Background: Spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury involves evident ischemia-mediated oxidative stress. Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) has emerged as a novel and sensitive ischemia and oxidative stress biomarker, although it has not been previously investigated in ischemic spinal cord injury (SCI). This study was therefore intended to investigate serum IMA levels in a rabbit model of experimentally induced ischemic SCI.
